Samuel van Hoogstraten (1627-1678), a name to remember. He learned and worked with Rembrandt, in the pupils’ studio of the Rembrandt House. Of all Rembrandt’s students, he became the most successful. During his lifetime, that is. Because, after the 17th century, he was forgotten by the general public, despite the fact that he was a learned artist who constantly experimented with different subjects and optical tricks.

The 11th edition of the annual Tulip Festival will pay tribute to Amsterdam 750 in April 2025. They will be in public spaces along streets, on bridges and squares, in flower beds and parks, shopping centres and (neighbourhood) gardens. In April, Tulip Festival will make the city bloom and this photogenic harbinger of spring can be beautifully immortalised.

Bloemencoso Bollenstreek (The Flower Parade of the Bollenstreek) is the most famous parade in the Netherlands. In 2025, the 78th Flower Parade will run from Noordwijk to Haarlem. Hundreds of thousands of spectators gather along the route to admire the colorful procession.

Holland Festival will return in 2025. A leading international performance arts festival in the Netherlands, the Holland Festival takes place in Amsterdam in June. Since 1947, the festival has been providing Dutch and international theatregoers with a survey of the latest, best and most widely acclaimed productions from around the world. This year, the Holland Festival celebrates its 78th edition.

Roze Filmdagen (Pink Film Days)

Roze Filmdagen (Pink Film Days) is getting ready for its 28th edition at Het Ketelhuis in Amsterdam. As the largest, longest-running and most successful LGBTQ+ film festival in the Netherlands, Roze Filmdagen once again offers a broad and inclusive range of films, documentaries, and short films, supplemented with in-depth talk shows with an LGBTQ+ context. Roze Filmdagen is an eleven-day film festival in Amsterdam.  Please note: Start and end times as mentioned are an indication and subject to change.

Behind the stately facades of the canal houses, you will find Amsterdam's best-kept secrets: large, beautifully landscaped gardens. Every year in June the gardens are open to the public and you get the chance to see a variety of canal gardens.

Keukenhof

In Keukenhof you can enjoy millions of blooming tulips and other flowers. The monumental walking park is 32 hectares and has 15 km of footpaths that take you past gorgeous water features, fountains and sculptures. With over 800 varieties in all manner of colours and shapes on show, the world-famous tulips are central to everything. Keukenhof will be open from March 20 until May 11 2025.

Aalsmeer Flower Festival

The village of Aalsmeer, just southwest of Amsterdam, hosts its annual flower festival in June. During a colourful weekend, flowers and plants will be centre stage, accompanied by music, street theatre and tasty refreshments.
