Catchy melodies and high musicality

Ukrainian folk music ensemble Uzory has been a welcome guest in the Netherlands for years, loved for their catchy melodies and high musicality. The Advent, Christmas and Easter periods are the periods in which the popular ensemble often tours the Netherlands. This year we hope to welcome the ensemble again, in the context of May 4 and 5: National Remembrance Day and Liberation Day.

Tribute

The fact that Uzory, who has been experiencing the mercilessness of the war in his own hometown of Mykolayiv for three years, wants to perform in Amsterdam on the day of National Remembrance Day, makes this concert on May 4 extra meaningful. With this, Uzory not only pays tribute to the Fallen of the Second World War, but also honors the Fallen Heroes in Ukraine today.

The members of Uzory received their musical training at the conservatories of Kyiv and Odessa. They come from the southern city of Mykolayiv, which has been in the middle of the war zone since the invasion of Russia, February 24, 2022 until now. Unfortunately, Mykolayiv has recently been on the immediate front line of the war and is being heavily bombed. It is therefore extra special that they have now (as in May 2024) received permission from the Ukrainian authorities to leave the country for this concert tour.

Instruments

The musicians of Uzory play typical Ukrainian instruments such as the domra, balalaika, bajan (button accordion), flute and a variety of percussion instruments.

Uzory is praised for the virtuoso level of its performances and high musical standards. In addition to Ukrainian folk music, the ensemble also has classical music, jazz, tango and popular melodies from all over the world in its repertoire

This is a Benefit Concert – all proceeds benefit the musicians. Cash donations are welcome.
