Johann Georg Schwartze: Out of his Daughter's Shadow

On 4 Sunday afternoons, Museum Geelvinck is organizing a special musical program. The 19th-century portraits of Johann Georg Schwartze are accompanied by piano music from his time on a 19th-century Erard fortepiano from the collection of Museum Geelvinck.

This program in the context of the Geelvinck Salon is called 'Music while you watch' and is included in your museum visit. Your voluntary contribution is appreciated.

This concerns the following Sunday afternoons between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM:

Sunday, October 27: Liubov Titarenko (von Weber, Lyzohub and Bortniansky)
Sunday November 10: Guy Maori (Mendelsohn, Liszt, Schumann and Chopin)
Sunday 8 December: Tullia Melandri (Robert and Clara Schumann, Liszt and Johannes Verhulst)
Sunday January 12: Alexandra Nepomnyashchaya (Schubert, Schumann, Liszt and Chopin)

A new formula

Unlike the regular Geelvinck Salon, with its well-known concert format, the fixed arrangement of chairs in front of a 'stage' has now been abandoned and a number of chairs are placed around the piano. The visitor can take a seat, but does not have to and can quietly view the exhibited works at their own pace. The pianists divide their repertoire into three blocks of about 20 minutes and then take a break. The program for that afternoon is announced in advance.
