On Sunday afternoon, December 15 at 15:30, the Westerharmonie will give a festive concert in the Uilenburgersjoel in Amsterdam. The orchestra is led by conductor Arthur Demonceau. The audience will be introduced to all the instruments and their players. With this concert, the Westerharmonie will conclude its lustrum year in the context of its 120th anniversary. Location: Nieuwe Uilenburgerstraat 91, Amsterdam.

Program

The program includes pieces in which a section of the orchestra plays a solo, such as:

Song for Lilian by Jurriaan Andriessen with a solo for trumpet and saxophone
Gabriel's Oboe by Ennio Morricone
Morning Song arranged for solo flute with orchestra by Steve Dunn
Sax in the City by Andreas L. Schulte
Circus Renz with a leading role for the percussion of Gustav Peter.

Furthermore, the orchestra plays pieces in which all sections are featured with solos, such as:

parts from the Peer Gynt Suite by Edvard Grieg with the famous solo for the bassoons
Folk Dances by Dmitri Shostakovich, en
Second Suite for Military band by Gustav Holst.

The Wester Harmonie is a modern symphonic wind orchestra of over 30 amateur musicians led by conductor Arthur Demonceau . The orchestra aims to attract new audiences with special performances and a remarkable choice of music in an accessible way and to give the harmony a contemporary image. Rehearsals are weekly on Friday evenings in the Hervormd Lyceum West, Hemsterhuisstraat 79, 1065 JX Amsterdam.
