Balanced and danceable
Bolis Pupul's unique sound as a producer and musician is recognizable to thousands. With several classic analogue synthesizers, he creates a balanced but danceable sound that sometimes sounds subdued and sometimes exuberant. In his music, you recognize influences of Belgian New Beat and synthpop from the '80s, Detroit techno, Chicago house, and contemporary experimental electronic music.
Letter To Yu
This year marks the release of Bolis Pupul's solo debut album, Letter To Yu. Where he explored themes of xenophobia and misogyny on 'Topical Dancer' with Charlotte Adigéry, Pupul focuses on a more personal journey with his solo work. The album is an ode to his mother, who passed away in 2008, and to Hong Kong. The record alternates between energetic club tracks and quieter, reflective moments and contains sampled sounds recorded on the streets of Hong Kong. Both his mother and sister, Sarah, can also be heard on the album.
Please note: the end time is an indication.
