SonPaTí with an Amsterdam edge

For this special performance, six top Latin American musicians from Amsterdam and the surrounding area have been asked to write a piece for SonPaTí with the theme 'Amsterdam'. The compositions differ in musical style; think of Cuban son, Colombian cumbia and Dominican pambiche. The perspective on the city also varies. The pieces are about gentrification of neighborhoods, slave trade and bicycles in Amsterdam, which beautifully highlights the versatility of Amsterdam. The audience is not only guided musically through the city but also treated to a rich diversity of surprising and striking film images of Amsterdam.

The New KHL

The performance is in De Nieuwe KHL, a beautifully restored building with a rich history. It was the coffee house of the Koninklijke Hollandsche Lloyd, which had been transporting emigrants and adventurers from Amsterdam to South America and vice versa since 1908. The Nieuwe KHL has a hall inspired by Cuban dance halls, making it the ideal location for Amsterdam Artística. Of course, mojitos and Cuban snacks are served.
