Glass and Steel, believe in a new world
the Belle Époque: a time of optimism and great technical progress. The car, the electric light, the telephone and the airplane were introduced into society. They were first seen at world exhibitions, where, in addition to the latest inventions, music and dance from distant places were also presented.
Technology and exotic art for inspiration
Technology and exotic art were sources of inspiration for composers. You can hear this, for example, in the Wajangle legend by Constant van de Wal, and the Conte Fantastique by André Caplet, in which the solo part is performed by harpist Alexandra Bidi.
