Close-up: The harp takes centre stage

The harp in the center

In this Close-up concert, the harp is the centre of attention. Solo harpist Petra van der Heide and colleagues from the Concertgebouw Orchestra treat you to chamber music works in changing combinations. In a colourful series of compositions, the harp constantly changes character. After Fauré's romantic Fantaisie for flute and harp and Franck's Prelude, fugue et variations, Wennäkoski's Ciphers and Pierné's dreamy Impromptu-caprice sound. Two works by Debussy, the kaleidoscopic Sonata and the famous solo work Danse sacrée et Danse profane , are finished off with the deliciously jazzy notes of Pearl Chertok.

In the chamber music series Close-up, musicians from the Concertgebouw Orchestra play self-composed programmes in the Small Hall. Each one is a special one-off concert that cannot be heard anywhere else. The way to experience the individual qualities of the orchestra musicians! The intimate concerts are organised by the Friends of the Concertgebouw and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
