Fela Day, Falz the Bahd Guy

Fela Kuti has given six unforgettable performances at Paradiso since November 28, 1983. The 'Godfather of Afrobeat' is seen as a pioneer in combining West African music with American funk and jazz. The charismatic multi-instrumentalist managed to create an ecstatic atmosphere time and time again with a band that almost didn't fit on stage. In addition to his legendary status as a musician, Paradiso praises Fela Kuti for his outspoken political activism, particularly against corruption and oppression by the Nigerian government in the seventies. This philosophy still applies to the current, global era. It is therefore important to reflect on a great artist like Fela. Program

This year, the evening will start with a talk by Oyeronke Oyêwùmí and Andrew Makkinga, with the theme 'The Invention of Woman: Making African Sense of Western Gender Discourses'. DJ Giordan Chase will then take the stage to warm up the audience for the main act, namely Falz the Bahd Guy. Last but not least, there will be an afterparty with DJ Shawn.
