Folklore days concert - Finl concert of the festival Folklore Days

Folklore days' is organized by Giesta, a duo that focuses on ancient music and the oral traditions of the Iberian Peninsula. Joana Guiné and Irene Sorozábal use their voices, recorders and traditional percussion as tools to transform and reinvent these repertoires. With a background in historical performance, the duo navigates the intersection between these traditions and deconstructs them through composing, arranging, improvising and using contemporary techniques.

Final concert of the Folklore Days festival

Imagine a time when young people in love could meet alone in the village square, dancing to the sounds of folk music.

Imagine a faraway place where all the boys who turned eighteen walk through the streets singing a song in unison mocking their half-grown beards and celebrating their path to adulthood.

Imagine a song with so many verses that you could knit a sock before it's over.

Imagine a village where everyone meets in the only living room with a radio to hear the news. Then the radio turns into a TV and everyone gets their own little screen.

And what about now? Is folklore still alive? If so, can it survive city life? How do we relate to these poems, songs and dances? A group of performing artists gather at Splendor and participate in workshops, discussions and explorations to answer these questions and more. On the evening of March 22, the participants will present their own folklore-related projects to each other and to the public.
