On June 20 we celebrate World Refugee Day. The world celebrates the strength and courage of people forced to flee their homelands to escape persecution or conflict. In Amsterdam we celebrate this day in the Tolhuistuin with a big 'IN MY BACKYARD chat picnic'.

Warm welcome
Do you ever talk to the new Amsterdam residents who had to flee from their home country? On this day, Tolhuistuin opens its garden for meetings and fraternization, organized by the IN MY BACKYARD program of the Warm Welcome Foundation.
Bring your own food for the picnic, which you can share with other visitors. In addition to the picnic, there are music workshops with instruments from all over the world, we play games, and we serve coffee from different cultures. But the most important thing is the meeting between new Amsterdammers and locals.
We share so you can taste each other's culture, such as Syrian Fattoush, Moroccan Tabouleh or Dutch bammetjes (sandwiches).
Registration is free and can be done via IMBY@warmwelkomamsterdam.nl.
