Robert Rook – Pianist / Composer / Improviser
Robert Rook, born in 1966 in Utrecht, is an extremely talented pianist with a long history in acoustic jazz. His playing is characterized by pure improvisation, spontaneous expression and a deep sense of musical exploration. At a young age he shows an exceptional talent, which gives him a unique position in the jazz world.
After his previous album New Era , in which he explored electronic influences, Robert Rook focuses entirely on solo piano improvisation with Echoes of Balance . This album, consisting of 37 intimate improvisations, explores the boundary between jazz and modern classical influences. His playing is both fairytale-like, mysterious and investigative and shows an unprecedented virtuosity, in which technique and emotion merge seamlessly.
Let yourself be carried away by the sincere, powerful and exploratory sounds of Echoes of Balance and experience a fresh look at solo piano improvisation from a pianist who belongs to the absolute top.
