Jazz evening with Rinus Groeneveld Trio
Guaranteed groove with Rinus Groeneveld
In 1969 Rinus Groeneveld attended a concert by saxophonist Dexter Gordon in Paradiso in Amsterdam. He was so impressed that evening that he immediately decided to buy a tenor sax himself the next day. He has now been involved in the Dutch, but also international jazz scene for many years. Rinus is a self-proclaimed blues bastard” and has played with many bluesy guests, including Little Willie Littlefield, Mose Allison and Eddie C. Campbell. He also played with Hans Dulfer, Candy Dulfer, Han Bennink and Pierre van der Linden.
In 1985 he gained national fame when the readers of De Volkskrant voted him the best Dutch saxophonist: “Rinus has a full and rich sound, but he can also sound very mellow, which is why he is now one of the best saxophonists in the world. The Netherlands is a 'musician par excellence'.
