Kokoroko
Kokoroko are an Afrobeat band from South London. The group is led by trumpeter Sheila Maurice-Grey, who brought together the young band members (all from various jazz conservatoires in the city). Kokoroko's music sounds like a modern take on West African music of the past, inspired by iconic artists such as Fela Kuti, Ebo Taylor and Tony Allen.

Swinging and energetic
The group consists of bandleader Maurice-Grey, a permanent saxophonist, trombonist, bassist, guitarist and percussionist, and regularly invites musician friends to join them on stage during their swinging, energetic live shows. Last year the group performed in a sold-out Paradiso during Super-Sonic Jazz Festival. Good news, on November 8 they will be back in the Grote Zaal including new work.
