Marc Pantus & Daan Boertien: Franz Schubert, Die Schöne Müllerin
Marc Pantus & Daan Boertien
In 1823 Schubert discovered a collection of poems by his contemporary Wilhelm Müller. This eminently romantic poetry is simple and direct, qualities that immediately appealed to Schubert. He combined twenty of those poems into his cycle Die schöne Müllerin, in which we follow a young hiker in his love for the daughter of a miller. The cycle is the first example in the genre of a continuous story with a cheerful beginning, a hopeful middle and, of course, a tragic ending.
Come and listen to this new musical collaboration, where baritone Marc Pantus and pianist Daan Boertien take you into this romantic poetic story.
