Jazz and tango

Violetta Khachikyan is widely praised as 'a true artist' for her 'beautiful tone and brilliant instrumental virtuosity'. As a versatile pianist, Violetta has many musical interests. She enjoys playing romantic composers and baroque music, but also 20th-century and new music, as well as jazz and tango.

Violetta's enormous talent is widely recognized. She has won several prizes at international piano competitions, including the Bremen International Piano Competition (first prize, audience prize and two special prizes), the Helsinki International Maj Lind Piano Competition, the Scottish International Competition in Glasgow, the George Enescu International Piano Competition Bucharest and the International Paderewski Competition.

Fungenpassion

Violetta has performed with numerous symphony orchestras, including the Saint Petersburg State Symphony, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bremen Philharmonic, with whom she also recorded Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto.

Recent albums by Violetta include a solo album with works by Schumann and Kirchner, and the album 'Fugenpassion' - with fugues by Beethoven, Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Schumann, Franck, Szymanowski and Taneyev. Violetta studied at the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory of Saint Petersburg and the Musikhochschule Lübeck. She currently teaches at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater 'Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy' Leipzig and the Musikhochschule Lübeck.
