Mees Vervuurt and Mees Siderius - A Myth for Piano
A Myth for Piano is an intriguing solo performance at the intersection of dance, installation and movement theatre. Percussionist Mees Siderius moves slowly but with great intensity in the twilight through a mysterious web of horizontally stretched wires. Everything crackles and creaks. The wires or strings come from an upright piano, but Vervuurt's actual instrument is your imagination. What do I see? What do I hear? What do I feel?

Intriguing performance in a web of piano strings
Mees Vervuurt is active as a composer-director in the Muziekgebouw Production House. He creates musical performances for specific locations, in close collaboration with performers. They are poetic, dreamlike worlds in which music, image, movement and space come together. The figure in A Myth for Piano is reminiscent of Sisyphus, who repeatedly rolls his stone up the mountain. The work is a preliminary study for the larger performance A Myth that Vervuurt will present in 2025. Vervuurt is also working internationally and has previously worked at Opera North in Leeds and The Alternative Conservatoire in London.
