About BOOKS
BOOKS is the debut of Pak Yan's sound explorations in materials (wood, metal), objects (toys) and electronics. Pak Yan Lau explores 3 different worlds. Book of Wood explores the world of the acoustically prepared piano, where the combination of wood, strings and preparations transforms the conventional sound of the piano into an enveloping sonic fabric. Book of Star explores the world of electronics, synths and drones and Book of Toy explores the world of overtones that sound from metal gongs and the sounds of toy pianos. Sound has always played a central role in Pak Yan Lau's exploration. Over the years, after the release of BOOKS , Pak Yan Lau has performed it more and more as a mix of these different worlds, making it one big expanding universe, where all elements participate.
