The Philips Symphony Orchestra will perform a new premiere: The Playful Garden by Dutch composer Mark Hendriks. The piece was donated to the orchestra by a member of the orchestra celebrating a jubilee. In addition, the orchestra will perform the Horn Concerto by Glière. This neoclassical horn concerto is one of Glière's best-known works. With great romantic influences, it is very accessible.
Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2
Rachmaninoff also drew heavily from Romanticism in his Second Symphony , one of his best-known symphonic works. The rich melodies and grand instrumentation are sure to enrapture the audience.
