Pianist Misha Fomin speelt Beethoven, Bach-Brahms en Chopin

Pianist Misha Fomin brings romantic masterpieces for piano to the Kleine Zaal. The 'Appassionata' is one of the great and best-known sonatas by Ludwig van Beethoven. With his brilliant variations on a relatively short theme, Bach created a unique musical universe in his Chaconne. Chopin's Twelve Etudes, Op. 25 can be called spectacular and revolutionary. They were received by Schumann as 'poems in music'.

Misha Fomin

With his playing, rich in nuances of sound and full, warm tone, the pianist embodies the virtuoso Russian piano tradition. Misha Fomin is currently recording Beethoven's thirty-two piano sonatas. The 'Appassionata' op. 57 is one of the highlights of Beethoven's oeuvre. The three-part sonata has emotional extremes, a true Tour de Force for pianists. With a lifelong admiration for Bach, Brahms made a piano arrangement, for the left hand only, of the iconic Chaconne from Bach's Second Partita for solo violin in 1879. Brahms described the work as 'a whole world of the deepest thoughts and most powerful impressions'.
