Alexandra Kaptein tells
Alexandra Kaptein talks about her program: 'A tender and intimate opening by Clara Schumann; a woman and artist, whose creativity and strength are a great inspiration to me. The Three Romanzen , op. 21 are followed by Robert Schumann's Third Sonata ; rich, brilliant, powerful, rhythmic and yet so lyrical and intimate in its empathy. The second half of the concert is dedicated to Franz Liszt; the music carries and guides us through the divine over the devilish - from light to dark, from sorrow to exaltation. Between unknown melancholic song transcriptions and overwhelming climaxes, for Liszt, faith in the light always triumphs in the end.'
