Harp quartet
In 1809, Beethoven wrote three important works: the 'Fifth Piano Concerto', the piano sonata 'Les adieux' and the 'Tenth String Quartet'. All these compositions – coincidence or not – are in the same key, E-flat major. The quartet is nicknamed 'Harp Quartet' because of the large amount of pizzicatos in the first movement. The members of the Dudok Quartet Amsterdam demonstrate which techniques Bushra El-Turk uses in her contemporary idiom at the world premiere of this brand-new composition.
Great works
The 'Selected by' series offers large works – side by side, opposite each other, in connection with each other or contrasting. In an hour, you will hear the full range of the string quartet: all times, styles, sounds and colours.
