Pergolesi's Stabat mater & Vivaldi's Nisi Dominus

These are sometimes called the two pièces de résistance for countertenor: the moving and beloved Stabat mater by Pergolesi and the equally beloved Nisi Dominus by Vivaldi (with the beautiful Cum Dederit). Pergolesi's Stabat mater would become the eighteenth-century most reprinted composition! World-famous soloists Alexander Chance and Miriam Feuersinger will provide an unforgettable performance. Two extras: Miriam sings Pergolesi's serene Salve Regina (in C minor), and the orchestra sings the Oboe Concerto op. 9, no. 2 by Albinoni.

Alexander Chance, Miriam Feuersinger & Il Gardellino

Alexander Chance has quickly become one of the world's leading countertenors. What else do you want when your teacher's father is Michael Chance? He has sung in Bach's passions with Gardiner and Freiburger Barockorchester, among others. The renowned soprano Miriam Feuersinger is no stranger to our series: she has previously performed in Bach's Hohe Messe with Collegium Vocale Gent under the direction of Philippe Herreweghe. Il Gardellino is considered one of our time's most important baroque ensembles.
