Brahms and Martin
Johannes Brahms's monumental Piano Quintet is one of the cornerstones of the chamber music repertoire, but continues, according to Beijer, 'to amaze with its enormous, evocative power and underlying tragedy, no matter how often it is played.' According to Beijer, the music of the Swiss Frank Martin still does not receive the attention it deserves: 'Martin is still considered a secret tip, while he should be mentioned in the same breath as the great composers of the twentieth century.'
