Quincy Jones
Quincy Jones (1931–2024) was a visionary who transcended time and genres. During his decades-long career, he worked with greats such as Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, George Benson, The Brothers Johnson and Toots Thielemans. He was also responsible for iconic TV tunes such as Ironman, Roots, Sanford and Son, and even the theme song for the sports program Langs de Lijn . He also composed film music, including classics such as the soundtracks of The Color Purple and The Wiz.
Band of Brothers
Led by Alvin Lewis, the Band of Brothers, together with a large string and wind ensemble, will bring Quincy's music to life in spectacular fashion. Enjoy the jazzy grandeur of his arrangements for Frank Sinatra, the funk of classics such as 'Off the Wall' and 'Back on the Block', and the captivating big band soundtracks he created so masterfully. In addition, performances by Trijntje Oosterhuis, Berget Lewis, Edsilia Rombley, Steffen Morrison, Clarence Milton Bekker, Marlon Pichel, Dwight Dissel, Jenny Lena and Hermine Deurloo will fill the hall with music. The evening will be framed by the energetic 40UP DJs Alex van Oostrom and Rob Boskamp, who will ensure a festive opening and a cracking closing.
