Getting Late
South African Tyla succeeded with her debut single, 'Getting Late', which she released with Kooldrink in 2021. She started her career uploading covers on YouTube and eventually TikTok. She created a massive following on TikTok and was approached by record labels Flourish and Multiply (FAX) and Epic Records. The mega hit 'Water' followed. She proudly represents South Africa through her music and dance, and she sees other African and Caribbean artists, such as Rihanna, as great examples. She combines the South African house variant amapiano with R&B and pop, which she calls 'popiano'.
