Living with the day

Although he has lived in Amsterdam for decades, Mola Sylla gives voice to the old tradition of the griots, which was passed down from father to son in his native Senegal. Historically, the griots formed a caste that was considered the keeper of the modeling tradition and advisory board for the king. With instruments such as the kongoma, m'bira, and xalam, Mola Sylla effortlessly connects this culture with the Amsterdam tradition of Bimhuis and Zaal 100: improvised music.

With The Legendary Love Orchestra he made music for Scapino Ballet. Together with Ernst Reijseger and Harmen Fraanje he made film music for Werner Herzog and several critically acclaimed albums.

His voice shows where the blues comes from, and at the same time his music always sounds an undisturbed feeling of life: you live day by day. His Song of Yoga is one of the heart.

What is a yoga concert?

The calm, meditative and at the same time intense postures of yin yoga give the opportunity to sink deeper into consciousness, beyond the thought patterns of the mind. On the yoga mat, physical sensations intertwine with the musical improvisations. Thoughts calm down, creating space for an open encounter: the live improvised music, the yoga postures and mystical poetry bundle together, interact and strengthen each other into a new experience.

Door opens: 10:45 am.

Bring a mat, and possibly a water bottle and props. There are a limited number of mats available: send an email to info@songofyoga.nl if you want to reserve one. The instructions and poetry are bilingual.
