Rebels - Janette Beckman
Foam presents an extensive retrospective of the legendary punk and hip-hop photographer Janette Beckman, called Rebels. For more than 40 years, she has documented underground culture, from the rise of the punk and hip-hop scenes to major movements such as Black Lives Matter.

Beckman is known as one of the most prominent photographers of the London punk scene of the 1970s and 1980s. She has portrayed iconic bands such as The Clash, The Sex Pistols and The Jam. During her time in New York, she turned her lens on the emerging hip-hop scene and captured pioneers including Salt-N-Pepa, Sade and LL Cool J. Her photographs have had a significant influence on how we view these cultures today .
Beckman has also recently captured movements such as Black Lives Matter, anti-Trump protests and Gaza peace demonstrations. The exhibition also showcases the work she has done for renowned brands such as Dior, Levi's and the Gucci x Dapper Dan campaign.
