Beckman is known as one of the most prominent photographers of the London punk scene of the 1970s and 1980s. She has portrayed iconic bands such as The Clash, The Sex Pistols and The Jam. During her time in New York, she turned her lens on the emerging hip-hop scene and captured pioneers including Salt-N-Pepa, Sade and LL Cool J.
