About KIT Live

KIT Live is a new platform for art, culture, and debate in Amsterdam Oost, which is located in the monumental building of the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT). It is a place for local initiatives and events that fit with KIT's mission to contribute to the city's inclusion ('everyone participates') and sustainability. KIT Live includes two dance and music studios, a theatre hall with 180 seats and a podcast studio. Plus, the KIT Caf�� is a coffee and lunch venue that is open six days a week.

Since September 2023, the KIT Live studios have been the new home of the Kids of Amsterdam, a dance and music school for young people from the area, and Dance School Asia Lafour. The theatre's renovation is still in full swing, and the English-language theatre company Orange Theater Company is already rehearsing.

KIT Live offers space for events (including theater, dance and film performances) and neighborhood initiatives. There is also collaboration with the adjacent Wereldmuseum and other companies and organizations in the KIT building, which has developed into a hotspot for inclusion and sustainability in the city.

KIT Live has its own entrance on Linnaeusstraat. Visitors to the Wereldmuseum can go inside the KIT Caf���.

Tip: combine your visit to KIT Live with a museum visit to the neighbours of the Wereldmuseum (you must register for a tour).
