About the festival
Reclaim the Seeds is an annual seed and information exchange event, combined with political discussions and practical workshops on food autonomy. The aim is to get more people involved in the fight for agricultural biodiversity and robust, sustainable food production. Each year, visitors leave the event with new seeds that they have exchanged and can plant at home, new connections that they have made during conversations with people and organizations, and a new-found passion for the fight for climate justice and their connection with nature.
Reclaim the Seeds contributes to a more just and equal society by addressing systemic inequalities in the global food system and empowering our local communities through seed sovereignty. The event’s seed market offers a grassroots alternative to the commercialization and privatization of seeds, allowing people to directly swap and share seeds in a way that promotes autonomy and resilience. Attending Reclaim the Seeds is an opportunity for Amsterdammers to understand more about their food, heritage, and future. Join us for the seed exchange, market, inspiring, informative program, the music, the food, and the amazing community! We are excited to see you there!
