The best way to get to know Kaija Saariaho's work is perhaps her chamber music. Here, her lines of splintered glass and harmonies shaved from ice sound in their most elementary form, often in combination with fanning out electronic sounds. Het Collectief sketches this very own dream world by means of seven interesting works, each of which makes for breathless listening.

Saariaho in its most elemental form
Since its foundation in 1997, Het Collectief has excelled in the interpretation of contemporary works. Since 2011, the Belgian ensemble has regularly worked successfully with Reinbert de Leeuw. For example, the recording of the chamber music version of Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde received the maximum five stars in Trouw. Together with soprano Liesbeth Devos, Het Collectief now tackles the magical sound world of Saariaho with solo contributions from the ensemble members.
