The French Film Festival Tapis Rouge

The place to discover the best of French-language cinema

At Tapis Rouge, you will be introduced to the polyphony of French-language film. After the festival has been held in the FilmHallen for a few years, this edition of the festival adds an extra location to the festival at LAB111 in Arie Biemondstraat 111. This way, you can discover even more great films this year!

The programme includes around 30 films. We also invite you to interesting conversations and meetings about the movies shown, with various talents and speakers who will be guests during the festival.

If you prefer French-language film and literature, come to the presentation of the Prix Tapis Rouge in the FilmHallen on Friday, September 27. The prize honours the best French-language book adaptation of this year.

Discover new creators

The history and present of France as a film country has an infinite number of passionate filmmakers who creatively complement the old traditions of their predecessors, challenge them and take new, own paths.

To highlight this French passion for innovative cinema, this year, LAB111 will be hosting a unique program for the first time that brings together the work of pioneer Agn��s Varda (1928 -2019) with the work of the new generation of makers who will revolutionize the French-speaking film world.

This year, the festival welcomes emerging makers through a special collaboration with the film school network Kourtrajmé, founded by filmmaker Ladj Ly (Les Misérables, Les Indésirables). The festival also offers a stage to debut films by talented makers in the Premier Long category.
