Afrovibes: El Botinière - Selim Ben Safia (Al Badil)
'El Botinière' by Tunisian choreographer Selim Ben Safia is a metaphor for the poisonous world of the 'patriarchal hypocritical Arab-Islamic society' in which people cannot be who they want to be. In Frascati, five dancers each tell their own story in which the somber and the sublime intersect and evoke feelings of freedom, but also of suffering.

Electro-oriental music
El Botinière – the name of a mythical cabaret in the centre of Tunis – is a show set to popular electro-oriental music that highlights the hidden side of Tunisian nightlife where joy, sadness, love, hate, desires and life are intertwined. A place steeped in lust and where those who dare not show themselves in broad daylight wander.
El Botinière has previously been shown at Castélorienne Montval-sur-Loire 2022, Center Choréographique Nantes 2023 and Danse sur les Routes Quebec 2024.
