Film and live music - Olga Pashchenko + Jed Wentz - Der letzte Mann (1924)
Famous performer Olga Pashchenko plays a piano score compiled by Jed Wentz, as she previously did with Der Golem, Herr Tartüff and Nosferatu. When the film was released a century ago, she accompanies this gem by director FW Murnau with popular music. Der Letzte Mann is a film in which he conjures up big cinema from a small story, thanks to innovative camera work that would leave a lasting mark on cinema.

Pearl by director Murnau with music that sounded a century ago
In his long, braided uniform coat, a large hotel's doorman (Emil Jannings) welcomes the chic guests. When, after years of loyal service—and just before his daughter's wedding—he is demoted to toilet attendant, he dares not tell anyone. The freely moving camera, which often adopts the doorman's point of view, immerses the audience in a personal tragedy.
