Getting It Back: The Story of Cymande

On March 26, 2024, the documentary 'Getting It Back: The Story Of Cymande' will be shown in the Main Hall of Paradiso. In the early 1970s, the British group released three wonderful albums in America, touring the world until the group split in 1975. Their music received little support in England at the time, but was discovered in New York by DJs who played it perfectly. found a fit with (then) emerging genres such as hip-hop, disco and house. Songs like 'Bra', 'Dove' and 'Brothers On The Slide' became classics. After rediscovery by producers, Cymande's music was sampled by The Fugees, De La Soul, Wu Tang Clan & MC Solaar, among others, growing the sound and gaining new fans from younger generations.
