Power (14+) Lloydscompany

POWER is a double bill in which origins, strength and creativity are highlighted from two perspectives, with two powerful performances. A dance production by Lloydscompany with world-class dancers Lloyd Marengo, Maikel Walker and Bosila Banya, aka B-Boy Junior, three critical figures from Breakdance. Not the youngest anymore, but still going strong with dance and making, in their typical and characteristic way, away from the beaten track. With the performance POWER, the three join forces to give movement and dance some new impulses. This performance can be seen in Bijlmer Parktheater.

A combination of dance, play and music

In POWER, Marengo, Walker and Banya look at their African roots and its influence on their dance, choreography and daily lives. They look back on their career to date, their shared background, the differences, the similarities and the development from street to established.

In a combination of dance, play and music by dancers Maikel Walker, and Junior and a choreography by Lloyd Marengo, the boys share their setbacks, successes and vision of hip hop. Both Junior and Maikel are a great inspiration to many dancers worldwide: Junior is one of the most iconic characters in the breaking scene, known for his inhuman strength and handstand acrobatics. Maikel is a powerful dancer, a planche master and even has moves named after him. Let's do the Maikel Walker!

Power II - "Letters from my gandmother"

Choreographer Sheree Lenting performs multiple generations of womanhood in “Letters from my grandmother”, with two influential female dancers. The performers tell untold stories from the past, present and future. The two are well-matched; they support and strengthen each other in movement & mind. With the POWER, wisdom and love of their female ancestors as a legacy, they look to their future with confidence.
