PRESS is The Repro Project's first public experiment, an investigation into our dependence on technology and machines. It is a physical and impressive experience on the border between circus and visual arts.
On stage, Camiel tries to control a large kinetic art installation, a moving wall/platform, but he just as easily submits to its force and allows himself to be carried and pushed.
The struggle to gain control is as fragile as his body, and you wonder who is in charge.
As you walk around this installation performance, you are a spectator of this fight for control and this search for balance—a game between a man and his wall, his machine.
EXO
EXO is the second project that approaches the theme differently. How can we improve the way we are seen? While at PRESS, the question was who is in charge, here the theme of mastery will become less important than the search for the symbiosis of man and machine, an enrichment of man/machine. A triangular installation, rotating and movable. An almost kaleidoscopic physical experience.
MANCHINES
As a counterpart to PRESS and EXO, where man depends on his created installations, MANCHINES is inspired by the ever-increasing communication with his environment through technology/digital communication. Camiel searches for the boundaries of intimacy. Especially now, when physical contact is terrifying, Camiel fears and is intrigued by the alienation of the intimate physical connection between people.
MANCHINES is a duet with performers from Collective MAMM. It is a dance-like battle about coming closer to each other and playful miscommunication.
