Rasha Hilwi & Sahand Sahebdivani - A trail of pomegranate seeds (première)

The impressive love and life stories of writer and journalist Rasha Hilwi and storyteller Sahand Sahebdivani, personal stories about leaving their homeland and trying to belong somewhere, are mixed with a tapestry of songs and folk tales. Their journey culminates in the creation of two children who, through their parents, have roots in Palestine and Iran. Rasha and Sahand talk in Podium Mozaïek about love, lullabies, melancholy and the untamable spirits of their ancestors.

Rasha Hilwi

Rasha Hilwi is a Palestinian writer, journalist, editor, DJ storyteller, cultural curator, and mother. Born in Akka and based in Amsterdam, she graduated from the University of Haifa with a BA in Sociology and Anthropology. Her writing and performances focus on the questions and stories surrounding “Home بيت” and “Ghorbah غربة” and their intersections with motherhood, displacement, personal narratives, history, and identities.

Sahand Sahebdivani

Sahand Sahebdivani is the most famous storyteller in the Netherlands. In 2004 he founded the Mezrab, which became one of the most important storytelling stages in the world. Sahand came to the Netherlands at the age of three as a refugee from the Iran-Iraq war. The experiences of him and his family form the basis of most of his work. Sahand is also a father of twins, a writer and co-director of The Amsterdam Storytelling Festival.
