Theater Na de Dam: David Roos - De Gedroomden
The special correspondence between Ingeborg Bachmann and Paul Celan is the starting point of the new text that theatre maker David Roos is writing for Theater Na de Dam and PLAN Brabant. Together with Zephyr Brüggen he brings this text to the stage in Frascati in a specially staged reading, with musical accompaniment.
Theater Na de Dam: David Roos - De Gedroomden
The Dreamed
Paul Celan lost both parents in the concentration camps, Ingeborg Bachmann is the daughter of a Nazi. In post-war Vienna they fall in love, then lose sight of each other, wander through Europe, and each develop in their own way into the poetic voice of a generation. In the meantime, they write letters to each other, all their lives.
These letters tell the story of a dramatic love, of a Europe full of trauma and guilt, and of two poets who seek a way out of the burden of the past in language. What can poetry do in the face of politics?
