Troupe Courage / Alaa Shehada - The horse of Jenin - première
In 'The Horse of Jenin', Palestinian actor Alaa Shehada intertwines his personal story with the symbolism of a huge statue of a horse, made from the rubble of war in his hometown of Jenin. The horse, a powerful symbol of freedom and resilience, was taken by an Israeli bulldozer, prompting Alaa to ask questions: What happened to the horse? Through humor, imagination and raw honesty, Alaa sketches a life of struggle, growing up and surviving in Palestine. With a combination of stand-up comedy, storytelling, music and masks, the performance not only brings to the fore the pain and difficulties of an occupied territory, but also the power of human ingenuity. Shown in Paradiso.
