Carbon Equity closes Climate Tech Portfolio Fund III at €105M
Funding to build a stronger climate tech future
Amsterdam-based investment platform Carbon Equity has closed its third Climate Tech Portfolio Fund, securing €105 million from 460 private and institutional investors. The fund, which exceeded its minimum target, emphasises growing investor confidence in climate innovation despite ongoing geopolitical tensions.
Founded five years ago, Carbon Equity has now raised over €300 million across nine climate-focused investment funds, making it one of the most active platforms globally in the field of climate technology and infrastructure investment. The company has backed more than 200 portfolio companies in Europe and the US via 25 private equity and venture capital funds.
Co-founder and CEO Jacqueline van den Ende emphasised that investor interest remains strong, especially among private investors.
Carbon Equity plans to launch a fourth climate tech fund later this year with a €125 million target and is also developing its infrastructure fund, focused on battery storage, EV charging, solar PV, and renewable biogas, which has raised €20 million to date.
Local funding, global impact
With a diverse ecosystem of climate tech startups, forward-thinking investors, and top-tier research institutions, Amsterdam offers a strong foundation for scaling impactful climate solutions. Local innovators like Thorizon, Skytree, and ZOLA Electric exemplify this potential, advancing clean nuclear energy, carbon capture, and off-grid solar power to address global sustainability challenges.
Carbon Equity’s recent success highlights the city’s growing prominence in climate innovation. Local investors such as SET Ventures and Move Energy have also made significant commitments to the sector, reflecting a maturing market and a resilient funding landscape.
