Ensemble Klang + New European Ensemble - Inspired by Bruckner Nulth + Fourth

Rick van Veldhuizen has a brilliant renovation in mind with Bruckner's Nulth Symphony. The first theme, which, according to others, was not recognizable enough, made Bruckner declare the symphony invalid. It is precisely this theme that plays a vital role for Van Veldhuizen. In Spiri II: Sheltered Ritual, Seung-Wong Oh actually 'brucknerianizes' her own language. Ensemble Klang and the New European Ensemble turn these hybrid worlds into structures in which Bruckner walks like an indispensable shadow.

While guitarist Anton Goudsmit is usually known for his irresistible enthusiasm, boundless energy, and exuberant playing, with Ton Petit+, he reveals an entirely different side of himself. Sharp, carefully thought-out compositions are brought to life by five expressive musicians in Ton Petit+, the larger version of the original trio Ton Petit, consisting of Anton Goudsmit on guitar, Sean Faciani on bass, and Tim Hennekes on drums. For live shows and the new album (to be released in September 2024 on DOX Records), they are joined by Mete Erker on saxophone and Joost Buis on trombone and lap steel guitar.

Tonight the AAO will play a preview of the music from the dance performance Mystic, with which they will tour the theaters in spring 2025. In Mystic, the AAO explores music from a vast area, from Western China to the Iberian Peninsula, in a transporting search for cross-pollination and spiritual connection.
