Danish String Quartet + Johannes Rostamo - Doppelgänger 4

This time, the Danish String Quarter literally steps it up a notch: reinforced by cellist Johannes Rostamo, the Danish String Quartet will play quintets. One of Schubert's very last works is the 'String Quintet in C'. Adès, like Schubert, is composing his new quintet for the unusual line-up with an extra cello in Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ.

On 1 October it will be exactly 50 years ago that the BIMHUIS opened. This month we will look back and ahead into the future. On the opening night we welcome two internationally recognized saxophone players. First we welcome Dutch pride Tineke Postma, who will present her new band, followed by the new star from the motherland of jazz, James Brandon Lewis, who will share the stage with drum genius Chad Taylor. A grandiose start of a packed anniversary month!

On September 29 at 14:30, a special concert will take place at the Singelkerk: two duos will present their new albums. Enjoy beautiful music inspired by the East for violin and piano (Merel Vercammen & Dina Ivanova) and for cello and piano (Duo Saraswati). Drinks will be available during the intermission, and you can purchase the new albums and have them signed by the artists.

BIMHUIS 50: Opening concert HOME BigBim 50 + Martin Fondse

The BIMHUIS celebrates its 50th anniversary in October. Martin Fondse, former Composer of the Fatherland, and his ensemble BigBim50 kick off this anniversary with the grand opening concert HOME. This musical spectacle is a tribute to the founders, inspirers, and pioneers of the BIMHUIS and a celebration of all the music that has resounded on this stage over the past half-century. Music will be heard all over the building, from the balconies, from the lift, and from the stairs.

The timeless quality of Beethoven's music fits in seamlessly with the music of Dutch top musicians Thomas Beijer and Jeffrey Bruinsma for Pynarello. Thomas wrote his song cycle 'A lock without a key' with life in Corona time. Jeffrey has been a Pynarelli from the very beginning. As a violinist, composer and arranger, he knows the collective inside out. In his Pynarello arrangements, he knows how to push our boundaries in a challenging way every time.
