'The sounds are there to surround the silence', Pärt said of his tintinnabuli style. In the long period that preceded this, Pärt was in a deep crisis. In the search for a new style, he incorporated other musical styles into collages.

Dutch pianist and composer Xavier Boot, aka XA4, debuted in 2023 with his EP 'Glass Gateway' on the Philip Glass label. In October 2024 he will release his new album 'The Sea Above' on this same label. During ADE this great pianist, who is influenced by both classical and ambient, minimal and Indonesian music, will play tracks from this new album at 19:30 and 21:30 in the Koorzaal.

From French baroque to steaming jigs in the Walloon church. Pynarello offers classical music that's just a little different: more spontaneous, more adventurous and without a conductor or sheet music. This also applies to the four-piece Pynarello Fagottet, which was formed during one of the lockdowns in 2020 when playing together in larger formations was not possible for a while. Just like everything at Pynarello, the line-up of this quartet is also different: violin, viola, cello and bassoon.

'Atem' (German for breathe) is a concert about the moments when we can embrace peace and solitude through music. Music for tuba and percussion in Splendor Amsterdam. The low frequencies of Dave Kutz's tuba provide the deepest sense of being grounded, accentuated by the spiritual and comforting sounds of percussion by Spanish percussion virtuoso Diego Garcia.

The ode to diva Umm Kulthum in Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ is unfortunately sold out. The Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra celebrates the legacy of Umm Kulthum, icon of Arab culture, with a triptych. This concert immerses the audience in post-colonial Egypt, where Umm Kulthum played a crucial role. Her music, broadcast on Radio Cairo, was a symbol of hope and change. The rise of Umm Kulthum went hand in hand with Egypt's independence. One of her songs even became the official national anthem from 1960 to 1979.
