SAIL Amsterdam occurs once every five years and is one of the city's largest events. The tenth edition is set to commence in August 2025. A massive fleet of large ships and various other special vessels sail across the IJ and dock near the city center. Sail 2025 coincides with two other significant anniversaries: the 50th anniversary of Sail (which was first organized in 1975) and the 750th anniversary of the city of Amsterdam. It's a triple celebration.

Paul van Kemenade ����Last Call Concerts��� (friday)

After 50 years, Paul van Kemenade is ending his professional musical career. As an alto saxophonist, he is praised for his expressive, bluesy sound. For years, he brought together musicians from all over the world at his festival Stranger Than Paranoia. He played in many different bands, for which he composed a total of 250 pieces. Now he will take over the Bimhuis stage for 2 nights for a grand farewell.

The Dutch Jazz Competition has been the national platform for emerging or breakthrough jazz talent for 15 years. In total, 124 bands have registered for the Dutch Jazz Competition 2024. Of these, 4 bands will reach the finals and compete for the main and audience prize and again a prize for the best composition. Winners go home with cash prizes, playing places at relevant festivals and a network for international tours.

Cellist Leah Plave and electroacoustic sound engineer Tiziano Teodori first met in 2020 in The Hague as members of Linen of Words; a multidisciplinary ensemble that reinterprets American folk music. A shared ambition to combine genres and explore electronic sounds led Leah and Tiziano to break new and uncharted territory, with groundbreaking sounds and techniques that challenge traditional notions of the cello.
