JazzFest puts the Indische buurt in the proverbial sun

In addition to the familiar Timorplein, with the StayOkay as the festival heart, this new edition will also feature stages around the Javaplein and the Javastraat in the beloved Indische Buurt of Amsterdam-Oost.

Jazzfest is not complete without the Young Maker. This year it is the Swedish double bassist Anja Gottberg. She succeeds River Adomeit, who together with Beatrice Sberna realized a special project within the Jazzfest New Makers program in 2024.

Anja, who lives in Amsterdam and graduated from the Conservatory of Amsterdam, is an active member of the vibrant jazz scene. She recently returned from a six-month study at the renowned Manhattan School of Music in New York. She is now a much sought-after musician in the Netherlands and plays in Ernst Glerum's trio, among others.

JazzFest Amsterdam celebrates its 14th edition with a packed program at more locations than ever before in the Indische Buurt. Pianist Harmen Fraanje, who performed at the very first edition, returns with a solo concert. Bassist Anja Gottberg is the Young Creator 2025 and will present a unique band with new compositions alongside guitarist Siebren Smink.

The jazz trio Tin Men & The Telephone, led by pianist Tony Roe (Boy Edgar Award 2024) and known for their innovative shows, returns with their latest project. Sanne Sanne blends indie-folk with contemporary jazz, rich harmonies, and dynamic grooves. Absolute headliners include guitarists Peter Bernstein and Jesse van Ruller. The evening will close with a lively after-party at a secret location!
