Bookbinding with Historic City Maps
On 13, 20, and 27 October, a creative workshop will be held at Evenaar Travel Bookshop, where participants can make their own notebook using vintage maps of Amsterdam. The part of the map featuring their neighbourhood or street will form the cover. Sustainable materials will be used, making it an eco-friendly project. For many, this will be their first introduction to bookbinding. It's a unique opportunity to create something personal in an inspiring setting.

Find Your Street! on a Historic Map
Get to know beautiful, old, but still useful historical maps of Amsterdam. These vintage maps often feature fascinating details, like bridges that have been around for centuries.
Explore the maps and find your own neighbourhood or street. Some buildings and houses are even drawn in 3D! You’ll work with prints of historical maps from the Amsterdam City Archives and the Allard Pierson Museum.
A section of the map will be used to create a notebook. You will stitch the pages together using the simple cahier stitch, with guidance provided. By the end of the workshop, you'll take home a lovely notebook—a memento celebrating the start of Amsterdam's 750th anniversary. This project is supported by Mensen Maken Amsterdam.
Registration for the workshop is required. Please email Annemieke van Roekel at: avroekel@xs4all.nl.
