Do it yourself!
The 'do-it-yourself movement' is also called the 'commons movement'. These commons have a long history. The descriptions of the first shared ground (also called 'meent' or 'common ground') traces back to the 12th century.
Commons are a way of organizing: people who jointly own and care for a 'common good': something that is important to everyone. A well-known example is Wikipedia, a collective of people who jointly ensure global knowledge sharing. Other examples are bread funds, food gardens, housing cooperatives (not to be confused with housing corporations) and local energy cooperatives. The idea is: we do it together.
This excursion takes you along a number of special commons of Amsterdam Nieuw-West.
