Walking and drawing
Visual artist Liesje van den Berk, Boekhandel van Noord and shopping centre Boven ’t Y organise short monthly walks through Amsterdam Noord. Drawing walks and walks by writers, architects, historians, nature optimists and artists alternate every other month. These walks are part of 750 years of Amsterdam, a gift for the city.
On Saturday 29 March we will capture the light and dark in the landscape with graphite pencil on paper. How do you see shadows and how do you draw light? Drawing and walking is a way to experience the richness of your surroundings and to make contact. We see in a drawing what the eyes and senses of the other perceive. No drawing experience is required for this drawing walk. The drawing materials are provided.
In addition to the drawing walks, nature optimist Thijs de Zeeuw, visual artist and musician Uli Kürner and Jaap Lekkerkerker, an experienced guide from Museum Amsterdam Noord with a passion for the history and architecture of Amsterdam Noord, will also organise a walk this year. During the walks you will discover new images, places and stories about your neighbourhood by looking, drawing and listening to the stories.
