Soft lounge music
On January 16, 1998, the French duo Air, consisting of Jean-Benoît Dunckel and Nicolas Godin, released their debut album 'Moon Safari'. With names like Daft Punk and Phoenix, the French music scene rose to new heights in the late '90s, and Air brought even more fresh air with their downtempo, atmospheric take on electronic music. With a preference for film soundtracks, classical music, disco and synthesizers, Dunckel and Godin created soft lounge music in which they held on to their French identity. This combination of acoustic and electronic elements, with serene vocals floating above, was a successful formula that spawned instant classics such as 'La femme d'argent', 'Sexy Boy' and 'All I Need'.
Debut album
25 years later and 'Moon Safari' has stood the test of time and is still considered by many fans to be their best work. Not only fans, but also Dunckel and Godin agree: the album is simply their best work. For that reason, Air will return in 2024, after a 14-year absence from Paradiso, for a live performance of their debut album.
Please note: the end time is an indication.
